Whilst having lunch at a small noodle shop we discovered that the owner was a twice decorated
veteran of both the French and American wars. Firstly for acting as a spy during the siege of
Dien Bien Phu, and secondly for shooting USA planes down. He went into the back and came back
dressed in his old uniform for us. We were also obliged to drink very large brandies with him.

  
Afterwards we came across a boisterous birthday celebration for this old lady, where we were again
obliged to consume large quanities of local alcohol. Derek's expression reveals his state of inebriation.
He then retired to bed for 14 hours of straight slumber...
