Our vehicle from the Chinese crew was a clapped-out Beijing (a cheap copy of a Landcruiser)
which broke down several times a day - yes, that is the radiator lying on the road

  
Cho La (16 130 ft) - the highest pass on the route, where we ran out of fuel
because the driver had forgotten to fill up the previous day!

  
So we free-wheeled down to the valley floor and waited until the driver
bought a bucket of fuel from a truck that was luckily passing by...
